Design And Display
The Pro series of iPhones have pill-shaped camera cutouts instead of notches. In the image above, you can see the Face ID sensor and selfie camera pill cutouts. The weight and height of the new iPhone 14 Pro Max is a little thicker than last year's iPhone 13 Pro Max, but a slight increase.
Talking about the screen, the iPhone 14 Pro Max has a 6.7-inch screen compared to the 6.68-inch screen of the iPhone 13 Pro Max. Plus, it's an LTPO Super Retina XDR OLED display with a 120Hz refresh rate and HDR10 and Dolby Vision support. Perhaps the most interesting feature of the display is its brightness. Now, the screens of iPhone 14 Pro and iPhone Max can reach 2000 nit brightness, unique in the smartphone segment.
For comparison, the Samsung Galaxy S22 Ultra offers a maximum brightness of 1750 nits. The new iPhone 14 series now also supports the always-on display feature, which is one of the long-awaited features iPhone fans have been waiting for.
Performance and software
The iPhone 14 Pro Max is powered by the new Apple A16 Bionic SoC. Manufactured using the 4nm process, it is more powerful and efficient. According to Apple, the new A16 Bionic chipset is 40 times more than chipsets offered by other competitors. There is also 6 GB of RAM with up to 1 TB of NVMe storage.
As for software, the iPhone 14 Pro Max runs the latest iOS 16 right out of the box. iOS 16 comes with a new lock screen, filter focus, message editing and much more.
Camera
Aside from the main camera, the ultra-wide and telephoto lenses still rock the 12-megapixel camera sensor. But Apple promises improved image quality across all three lenses.
As previously reported, the new iPhones will have front-facing camera autofocus, which turns out to be true. Autofocus for front-facing cameras in Android smartphones has been around for a long time. So, with this feature of the new iPhones, you can expect the best selfies from your smartphone's front-facing camera.
Battery and other Features
One interesting feature that Apple has brought to the new iPhone 14 series is the ability to contact emergency services via satellite. This feature is currently only available in the US and Canada, and Apple is offering the service for free for two years.
