Momo is a delicious dumpling dish that originated in Tibet but is also popular in other parts of the Himalayas, as well as in Nepal, Bhutan, and India. Here is a recipe for chicken momo, a popular variation of this dish:
Ingredients:
- 1 pound ground chicken
- 1 onion, finely chopped
- 1 tablespoon ginger paste
- 1 tablespoon garlic paste
- 1/2 teaspoon ground cumin
- 1/2 teaspoon ground coriander
- Salt to taste
- 1 tablespoon vegetable oil
- 1 package of round dumpling wrappers
Instructions:
- In a large mixing bowl, combine the ground chicken, onion, ginger paste, garlic paste, cumin, coriander, and salt. Mix well until everything is well combined.
- Take a small amount of the chicken mixture and place it in the center of a dumpling wrapper.
- Wet the edges of the wrapper with a little bit of water and fold it over to create a half-moon shape. Press the edges together to seal the dumpling.
- Repeat the process until all the chicken mixture is used up.
- In a large pot, bring water to a boil.
- Place the momos in a steamer basket and place it over the boiling water.
- Cover the pot and steam the momos for about 15 minutes or until the chicken is cooked through.
- In a separate pan, heat up the vegetable oil.
- Once the momos are cooked, remove them from the steamer basket and place them on a serving plate.
- Pour the hot oil over the momos, and serve immediately with your favorite dipping sauce, such as tomato chutney or hot sauce.
Enjoy your delicious chicken momo!
